PS LSE Financial Math and Stats

Does anyone know whether a ps mainly focused on math and stats (with like 2-3 slight references to finance) is decent for the course? I heard LSE is big on ps but I can't really tell if mine is "tailored" to that course as idk whether they want like a fully financial ps with more reference to m/s or m/s tailored to finance, as a quantitative degree would be mainly mathematically inclined no?

From my understanding, they don't mind either as both are relevant for course. However, I would recommend having some pure maths in one of your paragraphs instead of just doing stats and finance as you want to show LSE that you are interested in maths in general. What are your GCSE and A-level predictions like? (as LSE is very academically demanding)

3 A* predicted in Math Fm and Econ and my gcse (quite bad but have submitted extenuating circumstance) 988777774 (4 in Spanish). Feels like I’m more disadvantaged than the avg candidate so I feel no offer in sight but might aswell hope.

Thanks. I got around a 4 but with extenuating circumstance. I said in another post that someone also asked me for score, that I personally think LSE dont care a ton for tmua outside of pure econ (even on the basis econ math may be easier than other courses) as i havent really seen tmua based rejections and it would make sense for LSECONOMICS to want their econ students to be top tier.

Not personally. I saw a few other people online get some. There was like 1 day where like 5 people got offers for my course like a week and bit ago I think, which I believe were the first batch. One of my friends applied and hasnt heard back and another friend applied to math and data science and still nothing.

Do you know the stats of those 5 people who got offers?

Did your friend apply to the same course as you or a different course? Also, you said that you have extenuating circumstances, what does that mean?

Yh same course. Extenuating circumstance just means during the time just before/on the exam day/period something serious happened in your life that impacted your performance. U submit these to the unis/exam board and they decide whether they want to take it into account, if they believe that its actually serious/significant. U need evidence tho e.g formal documents etc.

Nice, those are some very strong stats. Is LSE your first choice uni? and how did you prepare for the TMUA to get such a good score?

Thank you, it might be my insurance imperial maths is my first choice. For TMUA I mainly did mat preparation that was probably the main thing tbh and then a few weeks before exams I did all the TMUA papers and all the community made ones and watched r2drew2 videos for questions I got wrong or took too long on I messed up my timing in the test though and had to guess quite a few which probably brought my score down so I’d prioritise speed when practicing
