Oxbridge advice

hey im currently in y12 and thinking about applying to oxbridge for english lit. Could i have some advice on which to go for, and what i can do to improve my admissions chances? i got 4 9’s 4 8’s and two sevens at Gcse, working at AAB in my alevels currently (though v early days). I do quite a few extracurriculars - i was in a TEDx talk this year, volunteer at a primary school, started a club and am a subject scholar for my school. If anyone has any advice on further steps i should take and the pros and cons of each school that would be great!

I can't help you too much with your query directly, but here are some things worth noting:
> Only supercurriculars, that is things beyond your curriculum that directly relate to your course of study, will affect your application. Starting a club and volunteering are only going to be relevant to your application if they are about your subject.
> The minimum entry requirements for Oxford and Cambridge for English are AAA and A*AA. You are unlikely to be a competitive applicant if you are below these.

Absolutely! Your GCSEs are excellent - they treat 9s and 8s as the same grade - and AAB in the very early days is incredibly solid. You should focus on raising your predicted grades to AAA (which is the minimum requirement for most humanites) for Y13, so do well in your mocks, and also a range of things around your subject - for English Lit, reading a lot is probably your best bet!
