Cambridge MPhil Human-Inspired Artificial Intelligence

Hi friends. I’m considering applying for the MPhil in Data Intensive Science program at the University of Cambridge for the September 2026 intake. Since this is a relatively new course, I was wondering if anyone here has applied or knows someone who has? I’d love to hear about your experiences with the application process, any tips, or insights you can share.

Are you asking about the MPhil Human-Inspired Artificial Intelligence program or the Data Intensive Science program 🤔

I am applying for the 2025 entry. I recommend watching the open day recording if you haven't done so already. It is not purely a social science program, so you need to know some programming before applying.

As far as I know, many details (such as courses and num. of admissions) are yet to be discussed by CHIA until this summer.

I also applied this cycle (sent it in November 29th). On the application page it says we'll hear back by the end of February. Do you think there's any chance they'll send out offers before then, say, in January?. Also how competitive do you think the course is?

That's good to hear. Good luck!
I watched the recording of the open day, but as you mentioned, there doesn't seem to be enough information available at the moment. My training is in computer science, so I expect the programming aspect won't be much of a problem.

No idea about the date cuz this is a new program. But I saw some post saying most offer is given in mid Feb. I think it could be very competitive, many people are studying AI now

Good luck! If you don’t mind, what’s your background? Are there any other related programs that you are applying for?

Mid-February makes sense; I just hope they don’t keep y’all waiting too long before sending out results. Do you think they might prioritize applicants with a stronger background in AI or computer science?

I would say a STEM background is preferable, but if you come from a non-STEM background and have completed courses, internships, or research in AI, that would also be useful

I submitted my application to this program quite early (early Nov), but I haven’t received any response yet.

If u don't mind, what's ur background? For me, I already have both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in computer science, and three years working experience in data science. My primary application is for an MBA, I applied for this ai program because I really believe ai is the future .

I feel like I might be the oldest applicant here 😂. Hopefully, we all get offers soon!

I think they said they won't do interviews except in cases where they want to better understand the applicants technical ability (presumably for those with non stem backgrounds)

I’m definitely getting rejected then

Any updates anyone? My status is still "under department review". I think most offers would go out next month
