Hello have any students here studied or are studying A level environmental science?

What does the course entail, and what can the course lead you onto into a future?

Thanks

I’m a year 13 student and take env sci i would say it’s quite a broad subject and incorporates a lot of chem, physics, bio, geography, bit of geology. it’s helpful if u take it alongside any of those subjects particularly geography and biology. in terms of what you study it’s quite a wide range of stuff. the topics are: unit 1 living environment, unit 2 physical environment, unit 3 energy resources, unit 4 pollution, unit 5 biological resources, unit 6 sustainability and unit 7 research methods. even though there are only 7 units there is still quite a bit of content but feels more manageable compared to other subjects tbh. i think the biggest challenge with env sci is that very few people in the country take it and there’s only 1 textbook that exists and it’s not the best. there aren’t really that many resources online which is what makes the subject hard so u have to really make use of your teacher. there’s also quite a lot of maths, like statistical tests in particular (spearman’s, chi squared, mann whitney ect). But don’t let that put you off im really not a maths person at all but i understand the stats tests and how to calculate them, it just takes practice. i would say only take the subject if you are really interested in the environment or if you are looking to pursue an environment related career in the future. although i dont fit any of those categories really but its just my advice. what other subjects are u considering taking?

:hello: Im considering taking environmental science alongside Biology and Maths.
Ive managed to find quite a few resources because i was curious about availability but as you said theres not that many tbf.
I love biology and maths and also enjoyed gcse physics. chem and geology aren’t really fields which appeal to me that much (i did a geology online course and disliked the content on rock formations, landforms etc) and I haven’t done geography since year 9 so im unsure if this subject is a good fit for me. Any advice?
