How to get into LSE or other really good universities.

Hi I'm currently in year 12 doing my A levels. Currently im studying Politics,Economics, Philosophy, As core maths( required by the college) and home learning A level maths.
Before going to university I wanted to take a gap year and potentially take A level FM. I have no idea what I am supposed to do apart from grades to get into LSE or other good university on economics related courses. I did horrendously bad at GCSE achieving only a 5 in maths and 6 in english both being the highest grades i had achieved therefore thats why I am trying to makeup for it. If anyone can reccomend me extra courses or awards to take part in that would be appreciated.
Sorry you've not had any responses about this. :frown: Are you sure you've posted in the right place? Here's a link to our subject forum which should help get you more responses if you post there.

LSE has GCSE requirements for certain courses so I would advise you do your research which courses you meet the requirements for and then tailor your supercurriculars for them

DROP Philosophy as LSE will only prefer Economics and Politics as well as Maths and Further Maths.
.

Under Entry Requirement:

"GCSEs: If you have taken GCSEs, these will be taken into account when we assess your application. All applicants are expected to have at least grade B/grade 6 in GCSE English Language and Mathematics.

As competition for places at LSE is intense, we look for applicants who have achieved a strong set of GCSE grades overall, including a majority at A (7) and A* (8-9). Some programmes have additional requirements, and these are outlined in the individual programme pages. "

You won't get into LSE with your GCSEs unfortunately (you need a minimum grade 6 in maths). Look for a uni that doesn't care about GCSEs and do lots of supercurriculars.

Sorry I'm not sure why the link I posted keeps disappearing. If you can't see it search "LSE general GCSE requirements"
LSE isnt the only Uni out there - and it doesn't suit everyone.
There are plenty of other good Unis with Economics courses .

LSE Economics is on par with Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard and Yale. So, it is a very big deal.
