when should you apply for Apprenticeships?

hello, i want to ask for a friend of mine who's currently in year 13. she just submitted her UCAS application but university is more like a backup for her as she is more interested in getting an Apprenticeship but doesn't know where to start. we both tried on Indeed and just searching the course on google directly but some says for Dec 2024, but nothing for September 2025 at all!
for those who are currently doing apprenticeships, any tips?
thanks a lot!

Hi, I'm not currently doing an apprenticeship but I've been applying since mid November and most apprenticeships (to my knowledge at least in tech) have opened and some have already closed, e.g. JP Morgan Tech Apprenticeships, but ig this varies on the field. I would suggest trying to look on the government apprenticeship site to see if any are open?

what sector are they looking for an apprenticeship in? it's best to start looking from october/november onwards but there's still plenty open around the december/january time apprenticeships can open and close any time of year but now is the peak time so they need to start applying soon. sometimes the government website has apprenticeship offerings but it's best to look on company websites so you could google company's in X sector and then look on their websites to see if they have any apprenticeships on offer. it's a good idea to go to apprenticeship or job fairs aswell. you might be able to ask your college for further guidance on where to look aswell as sometimes employers reach out to colleges/sixth forms for advertising their schemes
