Settled status

Hello, I am in my first year. My maintenance loan was not approved for some reason. I have pre-settled status. Currently doing temporary job. I know to apply for maintenance loan again I have to show 3 months of payslip which is not quite possible. So I was wondering, next year December my pre-settled status will change to settled status. Would I be able to get maintenance loan then?

Hi there,

Do you mean you will get your settled status in December 2025? Did you try to apply as a Migrant Worker but we did not accept your evidence? Did we advise why your evidence was not accepted?

Thanks, Drew

When I applied I was unemployed. My job contract now is 1 month only. And yes I will get settled status December 2025. Will I be able to get maintenance loan then, if I am unemployed.

Hi Kheya,

Can you confirm your nationality and age? Do you have an EU/EEA family member who is working in the UK?

Thanks,
Claire

Hello, I am 22 years old and nationality Italian. My dad is also Italian national. I tried to apply as a family member of migrant worker. But they told me I am not dependent on my dad as I am divorced, although I am living with my parents.

Once you have settled status you can apply for the Maintenance Loan. You would need to complete the paper PN1 Form for next year when you're granted the status, and post this back with your new share code and home letter confirming your status.

Thanks,
Claire

Hello, if you read the previous threads, I would like to let you know that things have changed know. I got a job and it’s been exactly 3 months. I have got 3 months of payslip. I joined as a Christmas temp but luckily I am permanent now. But the problem is I didn’t get my permanent contract yet. I have the temporary contract. In this case how should I apply for maintenance loan? Is there any alternative for the contract that I can submit
While applying? Please let me know thanks

Hi Kheya, in place of the contract, you can provide an employer letter on company head paper.
This letter must include:

Employment start date.
Contracted hours per week.

Thanks, Stephen.

hi, that’s the employment letter I could get and I can provide 3 months of payslip. Would this be sufficient to apply for the maintenance loan? Please let me know.

Hi there, we can't confirm as we're not assessors. But do upload this to your account and this will be worked in an estimated 8 working days for you. Thanks, Jason

Just tried as you said. Still showing the same error. Also a quick question. If I apply for my maintenance loan now, will I get any payments for this term? Or payments gonna start from next term?

Hi Kheya,

Just to confirm did you originally apply via an EU24N form and have you applied on a PN1 for the full funding yet? Thanks, Jason

I applied via PN1 form for both tuition fee and maintenance loan as a my father is a migrant worker. But student finance told me I am not eligible for maintenance loan because i am divorced and not dependent on my father.

Thank you. If you are working during the full year you'd be eligible for funding for the full year - otherwise it's pro rata'd depending on when you started working. The assessors will review this and determine your eligibility. Thanks, Jason
