5th year medicine Student loan

Hi,
I’m going into my 5th year of medicine next year and I’m confused about what loans I’d be eligible to receive.
I know that you don’t get a student finance maintenance loan like you do in other years, however would I be eligible to the nhs non means tested bursary, nhs means tested bursary and the reduced rate student finance maintenance loan all at the same time? I think I read somewhere that if you take the non means tested nhs bursary you cant also take the reduced rate student finance maintenance loan

Do you use Student Finance England? Is this your first degree? I really recommend starting a thread here at 'Ask Student Finance': https://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=910

"4.2 NHS bursaries

If you’re eligible to apply for NHS bursaries that depend on your household income, and you meet the student finance eligibility requirements, you can apply for a reduced rate Maintenance Loan that doesn’t depend on your household income. If you’re eligible to apply for NHS bursaries that don’t depend on household income you can’t apply for student finance from us. You can get more information about NHS bursaries by visiting www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/students or calling 0300 330 1345."

This is based on information I received from my university. Your university should be able to help you with this closer to the time.

NHS England:
Tuition fees are paid as a grant and you don't repay this. £1020 non-means tested grant and everyone gets this.

Means tested grant:
Up to £2696 if living away from home or up to £2251 if living at parental home.
Extra weeks allowance is another means-tested grant at £86/week (away from home) and £57/week (parental home).

Other support can include TDAE for placement travel and NHS Hardship Fund.

SFE:
A reduced rate non-means tested maintenance loans of £2753 (away from home) or £2066 (parental home).

Non-English domiciled students are to check Year 5 entitlement from NHS Wales, NI and SAAS.

struggle to understand this myself, and think it is one of the items under discussion in current talks about terms and conditions

I think it will be set to change in 2027 according to the BMA, but I don't think anything is really set in stone yet.
