Transfer Enquiry

I’ve already had a post regarding me being suspended due to my attendance. Just wondering if there was a way I could transfer to a different institution and continue my course this year. Or am i suspended from all courses for this year ? I’ve been asking for help at my university however am receiving nothing. Thanks again

Very few if any universities will accept transfer students mid-year

If you'd like to transfer elsewhere then you would need to get a UCAS application in (including an education history of your current university and ideally a reference from them) asap before the January deadline.
Whilst there is technically nothing to stop you from transferring, the vast, vast majority of unis will have no interest in accepting transfers after 2-3wks of term beginning. You'll have missed too much content to catch up even before funding implications.

If you find somewhere willing to consider transfers at this stage, you'll have to declare your previous place of undergrad study and provide a reference from there. The suspension will likely disqualify you from consideration from most unis.

I transferred last year from Teesside university as I done a foundation year , thanks for your help. I will enquire upon the admissions teams.
you might want to look into Open University as they have multiple intake points through the year and tend to be more flexible about transferring credits.

There's no maintenance loan for distance learning though

However if you've already transferred before being suspended for non-engagement then you aren't going to be funded for 1st year of a full time degree elsewhere. It might be better to look at distance learning as an option.

Why didn't you attend your course?

I may look into that , I’m young niave and stupid , i done a foundation last year and my attendance was awful and i still done pretty well , my attendance is 50% this year and it jumped to suspension in a matter of two weeks. I’m appealing it as it’s disgusting but yeah i should’ve went more. The appeal will come through but i don’t want to stay on the course anymore , the course leader clearly has it out for me so im ideally going to want to go to northumbria (i had a offer from them that i met in september) , unfortunately it looks like im going to have to wait until september or start a course in january. Either way my heads all over the place.
PQ might be able to advise better but if you switch unis now I think you'll have to self fund the first year. (FY elsewhere + now withdrawn 1st year at your current uni.)

Have you been getting a maintenance + tuition fee loan from SFE? Or have you been funding your studies via other means?

i’ve been getting it from Sfe yes , i’ve been suspended so my tuition will be refunded 75% i think ?

In that case I would definitely wait for PQ to give us their opinion as they are a lot better with funding nuances than me. As I said, I am worried you are going to end up with a shortfall if you switch unis again.

Okay i will wait for their opinion. I’m looking to transfer to Sunderland in jan , that seems my best bet.
Previous study rules don’t take into account whether it’s a full or partial year. More than 2 weeks on a course counts as a full year of previous study.

If you restart a new course in year 1 then you will not be eligible for a tuition fee loan for that first year.

That’s why I suggested OU. Previous study rules for distance learning are more generous.
