How to nudge my referee to do the reference

I'm a mature student and my referee is one of my seniors/line managers because I've been out of education for too long.
He agreed to do my reference for me ages ago and I've sent the request a few weeks ago and send him an email thanking him for doing in it for me again and asking him to tell me if he's stuck and needs any help.

Since then, nothing. It's literally the last thing I'm waiting on to send off my application.

I can't go in and talk to him in person since I'm on a planned leave of absence but Im not sure how to word an email with a reminder not to sound rude or demanding
Why not ring instead of emailing?

This would be the answer but I don't know his personal number, only his duty number (what he preferred to put on the referee page as well) - which doesn't accept calls from abroad. And I'm abroad and will be for another few weeks 😅
I suppose I could try to ask work colleagues if they have his number but that seems a bit... Insistent? He's the only one that I really could consider for a referee and already doing me a huge favour
