When does Glasgow Medicine start sending out final offers?

does anyone know when Glasgow med starts giving out offers? Ive had my interview earlier this week and every time ive gotten a notification on my phone since then, my heart has dropped a little from fear it might be the uni with a final decision. ive checked the uni website and it says that offers come out 'by march', so I get that it will be out by then at the latest, I just need to know if there's a chance of it coming out much earlier, so I can know if I should ease up a little and not have such anxiety about it this early on. I check my email several times a day. can't live like this for another 5 months lowkey

If you are applying via ucas then they will not give out offers until they have done all their interviews. Then it will take a bit of time afterwards while they sort and rank who to give offers to. I think by March means they will start handing out offers by March. If you want to be certain about this uni specifically then email or call their admissions team to clarify so that you feel more at ease. Applicants can continue to get offers well into the summer as those with multiple offers do not have to decline any until something like may and then the unis will continue to send out offers after that to people further down the list. After your interviews is a time to relax and switch off from med application anxiety! Concentrate on studying, socialising and enjoying hobbies. As long as you are not officially rejected then you remain in with a chance. It may be six months before you hear so don’t think about it until at least late February!

The 2024 entry Glasgow thread shows offers made from Mon 11th Dec 2023....so if they working to similar timeline, then expect offers could be made from either Mon 9th or 16th Dec'23 onwards.
The 2023 entry thread shows offers made from 20th Dec 2022.

Oh interesting, I’m obviously very wrong! Thats very early compared to most med schools! Do they complete all their interviews by early December? Are those December offers for standard UK UCAS applicants or Scottish students or international or all?

It was Scottish candidates that were reporting their conditional offers in December.

Do you know when they usually send out offers for RUK or international applicants?

I think over January to March as they may still be interviewing. Even some scottish students getting interviewed in January.
They must do them in batches.

That’s so unusual as most med schools rank after interviews to decide who to send out offers to, and therefore they need to have finished all the interviews. I don’t know Glasgow’s admission policy (my daughter didn’t apply there) - do you know what criteria they use to select for offers?

I believe Glasgow select for interview based on various eg, personal statement, UCAT, academics, etc.
Then after the interview, its how you did that decides on whether they offer you a place.

I don’t know if it’s that unusual, looks like Dundee was similar last year - the first talk about getting offers was the 8/12.
Aberdeen was at the end of January, and they seemed to release them all at once.
Edinburgh also seemed to release their offers at the end of January, although previously they hadn’t until March.

Maybe a Scottish thing to release them so early? I thought feb/March was normal but I have only researched some English med schools. Sorry for giving out wrong advice!

if your interview was this week and we give them about two weeks to process your application, that would take it into the Christmas holidays so I would guess you could be looking at early January? This is a total guess though so don't take what I say as a definite - they might only take a week which would mean an offer could be in December. I guess it just depends how long they take to process the interviews

I just did my interview RUK does anyone have an estimate for when they will get back with a decision?. Regarding the interview it went good ig the questions however were not as generic as people make it out to be

I hadn’t realised that Scottish unis send their offers out differently to most English ones. I was wrong! I guess if you really want to know when unis send out their offers then either ask them directly or watch the corresponding threads on TSR as people usually post the day they get an offer.

I am guessing it is to do with admin capacity. Immediately before Christmas there was a lull in interviews and interview invitations so they had time to put out offers to some of the top ranked applicants they had already interviewed. Since the university reopened in the new year they have been busy with interviews again.

I don’t think you can read that into it. They maybe didn’t have time to do many before the university shut for Christmas.

Any RUK heard back yet about offers?
