Extracurriculars for IR?

Hi!
I want to study International Relations (with sustainable development) at university and am not sure where to start with extracurriculars
I am going to contact my local green party to see if i could do work experience with them, and I will see if I can attend any MUN conferences but I don't really know what else to do- so help?
Thank you!!!!

Hi!

SOAS is hosting a PPE Masterclass in March, for Year 12 and 13 students, exploring the topic of racial capitalism. Led by SOAS academics, the interactive session provides a great opportunity to experience university-level discussions while also providing an insight into studying politics. If this is a topic that you're interested in, referencing the event on your personal statement could be an excellent way to showcase academic curiosity.

You can read more about the event here: SOAS PPE Masterclass

I hope this helps!

Hi,

As a Y13 here are the extra curriculars I would recommend from what I (+ friends) did in preparation for P+IR and other similar degrees.

Firstly, I would definitely recommend NUN, having participated at School level and international (Oxford MUN) it’s a super fun interesting experience that teaches a lot about practical research and debate.

Secondly, reading! It’s literally impossible to do enough reading for politics from a balanced range of ideological perspectives, to national and international news as well as books on political theory or history there are plenty of ways to start areas of personal statement enrichment.

I’d also recommend presenting to fellow students - for example at a politics society - to share any ideas which you learn about. I’d 100% getting work experience in a local political field as well.
IHAV mentoring scheme might be helpful
