Where to Study International Relations

Heya,
I've applied to quite a few postgraduate programs in the UK for international relations (Aberystwyth, Cardiff, Swansea, Edinburgh) and received an offer from all of them. I'm having a hard time researching who is "best." I know it's subjective, but I'm not having anything sway me. I really don't mind a smaller town, so Aberystwyth appeals to me for cost purposes. The last post about there is from 13+ years ago stating it's a good program, but does anyone have any opinions on any of these programs or universities?

Hiya!

Big congratulations on receiving all those offers!
I am currently doing my masters here at Cardiff, I did my undergraduate here too, and I love it! I also like smaller cities. I am just going to try compile some of the reasons I love Cardiff, and benefits of IR here at Cardiff!

1.

They have close links to the Welsh Centre for International Affairs and the United Nations Association (Wales).

2.

They offer a broad range of modules, allowing you to specialise a bit more into your preferred areas.

3.

Various extra-curricular opportunities you can get involved with - such as the pro-bono work, where you can help and get stuck in with real life cases. This is also great for your CV and general experiences.

4.

Cardiff (in my opinion) is a perfect size city, everything I need is in a 20 minute walk for me: Uni, the area where most students live, city centre shops, Bute park, train stations, the castle, and more!

5.

Affordable city to live in, especially as you save on transport!

6.

We have the 2nd best students' union in the UK, which lives up to that! With a huge range of societies, events, and facilities, we even have a postgraduate network for specialised events for postgrads.

7.

With many connections to those working in the industry as well, there are opportunities to enhance your network, and listen to talks/seminars and more outside of scheduled uni hours.

I hope this helps,
If you want me to elaborate any more, or if you have any other questions, please let me know!
