A level Sociology?

I'm in year 10 GCSE year, into English and creative subjects more than maths, physics, etc, and I wanted to know if doing Sociology A - level would be good for me, as I'm not someone who likes numbers ecetera, but prefers reading, and that type of thing.
- is it very content heavy?
-lots of essay writing?
-boring topics?
THANK YOU
Hello, I do a level sociology (aqa)

-There is a lot of content to remember (as with most a levels), for example remembering concepts, sociologists names and evaluations. However I'd say the content is fairly easy to understand. So long as you keep on top of the content and do active recall it's perfectly manageable. If you ever do struggle with understanding the content, there's a lot of YouTube tutorials for the course such as Tutor2U

-The length of questions will depend on the exam board. I do aqa and the largest question we have is a 30 marker. Being an essay subject there's a fair bit of writing. The way to answer certain questions follow the same structure and the time constraints relate to the number of marks for each question, so with enough practice it gets easier  I'd recommend having a look at past papers if you really want a good idea about the sorts of questions that are asked.

-The 'boringness' of topics will be subjective, but in my opinion I find sociology really interesting! I like how what we learn in the subject can be seen in real life which makes it much more fun and engaging to learn. By the way, for aqa there's a choice of topics in paper 2 (which your school would choose) so some schools may learn different topics. I'm not sure about other exam boards though, sorry!

Hope this gives you an idea about a-level sociology! If you have any other questions feel to ask and I'll be happy to answer the best I can

Hi! I’m in year 13 and sociology has been my favourite A-Level throughout college. Personally, I enjoyed english literature at GCSE and managed to get an 8 in it. If you enjoy english and have a skill for writing at length then you will enjoy this subject. I do AQA and the topics in my opinion are so interesting. For my exam board, you do have to do a topic on research methods which many people do not like as it can be a bit boring but it’s not a large part of the course.

I did sociology at both gcse and a-level.
I absolutely loved it. It was my easiest subject.
Nothing really mathsy or anything in it.
