bad predicted grades and deferred application</3

My predicted grades are a lot worse than I imagined (CCC) and none of the teachers will budge in changing any of them. Since I'm sending a deferred application I'm not able to go through clearing with a deferred application and if I do then I will have to join that same year (2025) - which is not something I want to do I need the year off. Should I just take my chances in getting in with the three C's into the uni's I'm applying to? I'm just stressed I won't be accepted to any and then have to go through clearing and join in 2025. Any tips or anything? (ALSO would it increase my chances of getting in if my personal statement is amazing - like spotless)

Which degree subject ?
Where do you intend to apply, and what are their entry requirements?

If your doing a deferred entry, that is more or less equivalent to just applying next year, only difference being securing an offers a year earlier. But if you have bad predicted the best thing to do if you are adamant on a gap year anyways is just get as high as you possibly can in A Levels, take a gap year and just apply in the next year admissions cycle.

I'm applying for journalism and my top choice is journalism and media at university of sussex but the entry grades are ABB and even with my contextual offer it'll go down to BCC which is still too high
