Aviation Related Work Experience for a Year 12

My school (unfortunately) is making work experience compulsory for all Year 12s and 13s.

I want to become a commercial pilot and therefore want to do something aviation/plane related.

I don't particularly live close to any airport except from Heathrow, and British Airways has this incrediblely long process of even applying to do work experience (that I'm currently trying to complete) and my school has set a deadline to submit a form for my work experience.

I know I don't necessarily have to so something related to Aviation, but they said something related to your subjects or future career is recommended (I take Biology, Physics, Maths).

If there's nothing aviation related, perhaps suggesting something engineering related or giving me information on engineering work experience?

Thank you!
Google search for companies near you and email them. Do this with lots of places. Attach a copy of your CV and write a succinct and respectful covering email about what you are looking for, when, and why you and their organisation would be a good fit. Don’t be too narrow in what you look for as a lot of skills and experience are transferable. If you have friends or family in another part of the country perhaps you could stay with them if they live near a smaller airport (you might be able to see more about the inner workings of an airport this way) or an interesting company? Perhaps look at other travel organisations (local bus or train network) as they will use similar protocols like health and safety, crowd control, customer service, teamwork, timetabling, maintenance checks etc. On a side note, have you also joined RAF cadets? I know of someone (female) that joined them in high school and throughout uni and then became a fighter pilot.

If you’re near heathrow you can’t be that far from blackbushe and other surrey airfields?
