1)How much free time will have during the program?

2)How does the university support Career development and job placement?

3)Are there any opportunities for internships or research collaborations?

4)Are there any personal or emotional Challenges I should prepare for?

5)What advice would you give to navigate cultural differences in UK?

6)If we want to do a part time job during our studies, will it be right?

7)Even if we do a part time job, wilt it have an impact on our studies or will everything remain normal.

8) If possible, you can explore a bit about how the classes are conducted and, their timings.

9)After going there as a international student the university provides you mentorships this and they guide you till your course duration or for a short term like one or two months

Hi, is there a particular course or university that you would like to go to? - this may help people to answer more specifically to the other questions!
1) Generally courses vary in terms of contact hours, but none go outside of the normal 9am-5pm working hours. Essay-based subjects can have only a couple of hours a week in university, but science subjects you can be in most days
2) Most universities will have a careers service, you can go to them any time for support. You may also be given a personal academic tutor who can give you more specific advice about the future. You can also ask for their support when applying for job placements
3) Internships can be offered for most science and engineering subjects across universities, you tend to have to apply early and do a lot of the work yourself, but staff will help you. Most bigger universities offer summer internship and research programmes that you can apply to - you can also apply to ones at other universities too.
4) University can be a big step up in terms of caring for yourself and being away from family and friends and away from your support network. The workload can be more, and is much more independently motivated, however I would say it is not a huge step up from A levels - particularly in first year. I would say try to meet people and make some good friends in your first year as they can help support you through.
5) As a student from the UK I cant really comment on this one! But I hope someone else will!
6) Yes, most Uni's will let you do a part time job during studies, and lots of students do this. They just encourage you not to work lots of hours as it will then impact on your degree
7) If you are organised then it should not make a different to your studies, most students do more work in the summer holidays but reduce their working hours around big deadlines or exams
8) I am not too sure how to answer this question sorry!

I hope that helps, let me know if you have any more questions
Evie (final year medic at UoS)
