UA92 Experience

Hello,

Just wondering from students that are at/attended UA92 what was the Uni like and how practical and hands on were the courses. In addition what was the free time like and did you have time to work to afford accommodation and car etc etc.

Currently studying final year Computer Science (accelerated) at UA92. Degrees are issued by Lancaster, but if you compare the modules they are different. My course is very assignment heavy with practical submissions. As for the Uni itself, I really like it. I'm a mature student so not really into the social side of it, but it's a small Uni of maybe a 1000 students tops. Always activities going on and tutors will end up knowing you by name- which can be a good thing if you need extra assistance. Staff are super friendly and helpful, can't comment on accomm as I travel from Bolton. Being Manchester there's alot of low entry jobs in pubs etc, but I don't think it's realistic to expect to fund things like rent and a car off those wages. Especially as lectures are 4 days week. But, if you're on a normal 3 year course there's huge breaks between modules so maybe you could work full time in between.
