I was wondering, if I wanted to apply to Nursing at one university but also wanted to apply for Radiography at another university, would that be allowed? Is there an option to choose to upload different personal statements for different universities? Also, will you have to pay for the application again? Thanks

You are allowed to apply to different courses however beware that you can only submit one personal statement which can be difficult to write for different courses, as for the application fee there is a different fee if you apply to one vs if you apply to more than one, you don't need to pay twice it is just a different fee and its the same fee whether you apply to 2 or 5 courses.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions

So does that mean I can write two different Personal statements and apply to two different courses?

No, it’s the same personal statement for all courses you apply for.

But what if the courses are different from each other? For example, wouldn't you need to write different things in your personal statement for nursing degree in comparison to a radiography degree?

yes you would but you can't. them's the rules.
you could try contacting the university to see if they would accept you submitting a separate personal statement for them but it is unlikely they would make this exception

You can apply for different courses but it isn't advisable, especially for healthcare courses which are competitive. You need to write a statement that convinces the reader that you want to study that course. There isn't an option on UCAS to upload a separate statement. You can email a uni's admissions department and ask if they would accept a separate statement for the different course. You need to do this before you apply.

This is no longer the case - it's the same fee now even if you apply to just one uni.

Makes sense! Thanks:smile:
As above, you get one personal statement for all unis you apply to. You can apply to whatever combination of courses and/or universities you choose, but they're all getting the same information. Particularly for healthcare professions courses where they're likely to want to see specific engagement with the particular career associated with it and commitment to that profession, your options are either apply with an unrelated PS to some of those courses (which is probably not going to make a strong application) or dilute your PS to apply to both and likely make it irrelevant to either.

Pick one course and apply to it at all of your university choices. Especially with healthcare professions where the actual university you do it at doesn't really have much bearing on your career as the degree is just a path to become registered in that profession, you should be focusing on figuring out what it is you actually want to do in the long term as a healthcare professional. A radiographer is not a nurse who does X-Rays and a nurse is not a radiographer who works on the wards. They're fully distinct roles and you need to understand the scope of those roles and demonstrate that you understand what the scope of the role is and that you're committed to that!

Most universities allow you to write another one for their course if the UCAS personal statement is not relevant enough. I have had two additional personal statements submitted to other universities and I have 3/5 offers so far. Best advice is to ask the universities. However, considering these courses are high in demand, my advise may well be irrelevant.

Thank you, it makes a lot more sense now

What universities required additional personal statements if you don’t mind me asking

I think Sheffield asked for one and so did SOAS I believe. You simply will just have to ask the universities you want to apply to.

Hi, sorry for the late reply (I did reply to this but for some reason it didn't send), you'd have to ask the ones that you want to apply to/ would be willing to go to but I did ask University of Leeds and Leeds Trinity and they both agreed to sending a separate ps by email provided I emailed it as soon as I sent my UCAS application off.

Hi there,
Just to confirm, we do not accept additional personal statements even if the UCAS personal statement is not relevant enough. I would recommend emailing the university you would like to attend @sxniathefirst, try emailing their admissions office and confirm.

Thanks for clearing that up; I could not exactly remember if SOAS did or did not accept additional personal statements.
Update: I actually just checked my sent history and I did indeed send another one to SOAS. Maybe the policy changed since then or perhaps it was down to the admissions/tutors discretion. To be fair, they might have ignored and never used it for my application.
