Returning to studies after interrupting

Hi wondering if anyone can advise, my course ran January-January but I stepped off at the end of May due to poor health, I was entitled to 60 days extra SF so I kept most of my payment in May. I’m now ready to step back on to the course at the point I interrupted but with the cohort behind mine.
So basically my question is, will I get one SF payment or two? I’m aware I already had 2, 1 in Jan and one in May and I would have had my last one in September if I hadn’t stepped off, but I don’t know how it works with being entitled to the run on.. can anyone shed any light? Also unsure if I meet the requirements for special support element.

Hi Highlandxcow! 👋
It’s great that you’re ready to return to your studies, and I hope you’re feeling much better now. 😊 Regarding your question:

1.

Student Finance (SF) Payments: Since you stepped off the course in May and are rejoining with the cohort behind yours, the number of payments will depend on your specific situation. Typically, if you’ve already received two payments (January and May) and are rejoining partway through the academic year, you may be eligible for one additional payment. However, this also depends on how your course’s funding is structured and whether the 60-day additional support has already been factored in.

2.

Special Support Element: Eligibility for the special support element depends on your personal circumstances (e.g., health issues, financial need). If you’re unsure, it’s worth contacting Student Finance directly or checking your most recent SF correspondence.

To get the most accurate answer, I’d recommend reaching out to Student Finance. They’ll be able to confirm your entitlements based on your revised study plan. They also often have helplines or live chat features for quicker resolutions.
Good luck with rejoining your course—wishing you a smooth transition! 🎓✨

They posted in the 'Ask SFE' section specifically to get a reply from SFE, not a generic one.
Hi there. When you return to study, will you be completing the remainder of the year or repeating any periods? When will you be returning? How long will you take to complete the remainder of the year/repeat?Thanks, Leah.
