Warwick Or Surrey?

I am applying for mathematics-focused courses at Imperial, LSE, UCL, KCL, and Warwick. Since I live in London, I can live at home while attending any of the London universities if offered a place. However, I am considering swapping Warwick for Surrey in my choices, as Surrey is much closer to home, allowing me to avoid accommodation costs. Is the difference in reputation and quality between Warwick and Surrey significant enough to make it worth keeping Warwick, or would switching to Surrey be a reasonable decision?

I'd say that the difference in "reputation and quality" between Warwick and Surrey for Mathematics is significant. However, only you can make the decision as to how important being able to commute to university is.

I would say Surrey. I was an engineering student but with different modules, we used to have the privilege of getting taught our Mathematics from Professors from the Maths department. Their understanding and willingness to help students is a standout for me especially with a tough course like Mathematics. Sometimes the help you get when things are going south makes such a big difference to the learning experience.

Has anyone received offers from Warwick for Data Science?

Surrey is a fantastic uni and one of the top non-Russel groups, but I feel like Warwick still is held in a much higher regard than Surrey. Some other factors to consider though is that it may be easier to get a first in your degree at Surrey, as the course likely won’t be as difficult. Also, if your A-level results are great, and you put them on your cv, I can’t see why it should effect you majorly if you just decide to go to Surrey for convenience.
