I sent my application off 3 weeks ago for paediatric nursing and I’ve changed my mind about the course I’d like to study at university. I was thinking of applying for dental hygiene and therapy through ucas extra but I’m unsure if I can apply to the same university. Also I’m not sure if I should even apply for the course as it is competitive to get into.

That would need a new personal statement, no?
If you want to swap courses at the same university, get in touch with them and ask them to change it. You'll need to meet the entry requirements and they may ask for a new personal statement.
