BTEC Health and Social Care Grading

Hi,
at the start of year 12 i was predicted a D* for my level 3 BTEC foundation diploma but ended up getting a M (74 UCAS points ) at the end of year 12 because i couldnt be asked to do coursework and would never get a distinction in coursework or exams(mainly passes and merits) .this year however i decided to actually get on my feet and put some effort into my work so that i can apply for uni and get into a course however i seem to not have the predicted grades for the uni that i really want to go to they require a D*D*D for the course and im sitting on a predicted MMM :frown:is there a chance that i can get my grades up to a D*DD or even a DDD and if not what can i do??

Download the BTEC Nationals grade calculator from the link below (there are instructions on the page on how to use it. Enable Macros and Save As to your PC. Then re-open and complete all of the details on the Ext Diploma tab. Input all of your Grades for every unit you completed last year and also input the actual Points for each of the exam units (your Tutor or Exams officer will have these). Then have a play around with inputting the grades you hope to get this year for the remaining units. This will then show you the highest Grade you will be able to achieve. You are allowed to resit any exams from last year if that will help you to improve your grades but your school / college may discourage this if it will cause you too much stress this year. https://qualifications.pearson.com/en/support/support-topics/results-certification/understanding-marks-and-grades/using-the-next-generation-btec-nqf-grade-calculator.html

Hi, I’ve already used the BTEC calculator but will put in what grades I should get if I was to resit the exams that I did last year. I did already resit last year exams at least once and achieved a pass and the merit in the two different exams. I’m just really bummed out about my coursework grades. I definitely believe that I would get distinctions and everything this year. It’s just that last year i couldnt be bothered thanks tho

Im not sure what your college allows but some coursework units are only marked externally at the end of the course so you still have time to get grades up on them, the more expensive option is retaking exams for a higher grade but its likely that doing any now will cost around £100+ since its so late

If you can do coursework still but youre not sure how to complete it then studco has examples you can use to get a better understanding of:smile:

Hi thanks for the reply. I’ll definitely ask my six form if I can resit some of my exams from last year but honestly I don’t think I need to. I did some checking today with some classmates and turns out if I get two merits in my upcoming exam ( i will probs get a merit and a distinction ) and i acheive Distinctions in all remaining coursework units for this year then I have the possibility of getting DDD which honestly is fine for me if there is anything that I can do to get a D*DD, then that’ll be great plz lmk

coursework units cannot be redone. The Pearson rules state that any resubmissions must be within 15 working days of feedback date to learners and within the same termm
