CS University Choices

Hi all! I’m submitting my choices soon for computer science. My predicted grades are A,A,A ( Maths, Computer Science, Business Studies) and choices are East Anglia, Leeds, Queen Mary London, Surrey and Essex. Do you think these are good choices? Thanks in advance
Hey @eatayka

It's great to hear you are considering studying computer science at the University of Essex, sounds like a fabulous choice to me!🥳

Is it our BSc Computer Science course specifically you are interested in?

Our BSc Computer Science course is one of our most flexible courses in our School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering at Essex. This means you will be able to pick from a large range of optional modules and have the opportunity to specialise in areas such as assistive technologies, computer games, artificial intelligence, evolutionary computation, Big Data and robotics.💻️

The best news is we've recently been ranked top 25 in the UK for Computer Science in THE World University Rankings by Subject 2024!⭐️

Please do let me know if you have any questions about our course or studying at Essex, more than happy to help!😄

Hi there,

Your choices look solid! It’s great to see a mix of universities offering strong computer science programs. Since UEA is on your list, I’ll share some insights about studying there. UEA’s Computer Science course is designed to be hands-on and research-driven, with excellent facilities like its state-of-the-art robotics lab and a focus on employability through placements and industry links. Norwich is also a fantastic city to live in—affordable, friendly, and full of opportunities to enjoy student life without the stress of high living costs in bigger cities like London.

Your predicted grades of AAA give you a strong chance at all these universities, so it’s about finding the one that aligns with your personal preferences.

UEA is a particularly supportive university, with a collaborative learning environment and excellent student services, which could be a real asset as you navigate your degree. Let me know if you’d like more details about UEA or anything else to help with your decision!

Best,
Daniel

Hi @eatayka

We do currently offer a wide range of optional modules on our BSc Computer Science course, including computer and network security, which you can take a look at here.💻️

The course is taught through a combination of in-person lectures, laboratory work, assignments, and individual and group project activities🌟

I hope this is helpful☘️
