BTEC Applied law grade

Hi, so i’m in my second year of BTEC applied law, business and psychology, and i’m trying to figure out what grade i could achieve if let’s say… i got a pass in the external exams but a distinction in the rest of the coursework. i’ve tried the btec calculator but it’s not very helpful, if someone could help this would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

Do you know your points for each unit? I do applied law so can work it out for you but would need that info first! :smile: how are we feeling about the unit 3 prerelease?

In theory, if you got D in both courseworks, that gets you 40 points (unit 2=24 points, optional unit= 16 points. A pass in unit 1 would be anywhere from 9-14 points, and in unit 3 12-19 points.

Worst case scenario- 61 points = merit overall
Best case- 73= merit overall (1 point off a D)

Grade boundaries are:
P= 36 points
M= 52 points
D= 74 points
D*= 90 points

If I were you- do everything you can to scrape a merit in unit 3- this gets you a distinction overall!!!

Do remember- you must pass every single module to pass the course, so 40 points from the coursework alone would not mean you have a pass overall- it is a fail if you dont get at least a near pass in the external units. Hope this helps!
