Buckingham PGCE revisited - what has changed? what is better?

Buckingham PGCE: apparently some schools are happy to pay their teachers to do the Buckingham PGCE - as it's light touch and as long as they (the trainee) has someone to supervise them in the school, then everyone is happy. I know that Buckingham is "light touch" - and four years ago they had spa days for the trainees and the fees were lower than "normal" PGCEs. Win win all round. Those in the know: last time I attempted this, was told that they want a class of over 8 students and a job of at least 3 days. I don't want to read anything, I want to hear it from the horse's mouth as it were. Still seems to me the best option (especially if someone else pays).
Hi @Voxdei

At the University of Buckingham, we offer a range of PGCEs with Prep, Primary, Secondary, and Independent School focuses. All PGCE courses have a residential element, where cohorts can come together to network and learn three times a year, in addition to our online teaching.

All applicants should be teachers who are currently employed in maintained or independent schools in England, be teaching their subject for a minimum of thirteen hours and know about four consecutive school years (teaching in at least two of them).

Sometimes our students seek support from their school to help them level up in their career - we find schools are often receptive to these requests as training helps to support retention of staff and helps to improve the quality of their teaching provision. We price our courses competitively to support our sole aim as a department to improve teaching and leadership in schools.

I would encourage you to take a look at our PGCE offerings and check out the Teaching and Assessment section on the course pages.

If you have further questions, our Admissions team would be delighted to hear from you and to help you can contact them at [email protected].
