Questions about EPQ referencing

Just some questions I have
1. Should I use footnotes? I have been doing just to keep track of my sources but I'm not sure it's necessary.
2. Subsequently, with footnotes, should I Include the full reference? (I'm using Harvard Referencing) or should it just be the author's name and date perhaps?
3. Should I just not use footnotes and use my reference list? Would this work better?
Just some general things I'm stuck on and any advice on the structure of referencing would be appreciated

You don't need footnotes, but then you need to make sure you use in-text citation.
Harvard does not use footnotes for references.
