Newcastle Entry Requirements

I’m really interested in Newcastle’s English Literature and Creative Writing BA course, but I’m not sure if I have the qualifications to apply.

The entry requirements are A-Level AAB, one of which must be English Literature or English Language and Literature (combined). For A-Level, I did English Language (not combined) and got a grade B.

However, it also says ‘or including evidence of readiness to begin university-level study in literature, such as A-Levels in other arts and humanities subjects.’ I did A-Level Sociology (grade B) and A-Level Criminology (grade A*), both of which I believe to be in the arts and humanities field.

I also did an enrichment in English Literature and another in Creative Writing alongside my studies in college, which I got really stuck into. Additionally, I’ve done Springpod Work Experience courses in Journalism and Publishing.

How strict are Newcastle on course-specific entry requirements? Would I be wasting one of my applications if I won’t even be considered? Also, if I got A*BB in college (and a C in EPQ), would I still be considered for a course requiring AAB?

Email the Uni and ask them - before you apply.
Btw, Criminology is not an A level - its a WJEC Applied Diploma - and some top Unis do not accept it and/or not for all courses.
