Help to become a criminologist/ work in crime related research

I have a degree in Sociology and Criminology with a goal of getting into research specifically for criminology. However, I have no clue how to get into one of these roles and when I try and find jobs there doesn't seem to be any jobs or career paths to get to this point. Please may someone help advise me on what I should be looking at to find jobs to get into this carear. thank you
