Change of term time address query

Hi there,

My girlfriend has recently moved up to mine from London to birmingham. She is studying in London still in her second year.

She has to update student finance with a change of circumstances form. The form says it can take upto 6 weeks to process the new information.

My girlfriend is concerned because she is due her regular payment from student finance at the start of January. We have bills to pay etc at the start of Jan.

She is concerned incase she fills out the change of circumstance form, then then delay her payment to the end of January due to processing the new info. Is this what would happen?

Or would she get her payment at the beginning of January as normal, then it is later adjusted and she has to pay some back?

Thankyou:smile:

Hi,
I hope you are well!

While I wouldn't like to comment on your specific situation, I've tagged @Student Finance England here so hopefully they will be able to advise you on this!😊

I'm not sure if there are any reps available over the weekend to answer queries, so you can find contact information for Student Finance here if you need any urgent answers (I believe you can contact them directly over the weekend during reduced hours).

Just something to add- Universities might offer financial assistance to students, if for example, they find themselves in a situation where their student finance is delayed, or does not cover the costs of their living for example. While the type of support is subject to each university, it's helpful to get into contact with your universities finance team if you need it, as there may be some support available for you if you.🙂

I hope this helps! 😊
Best wishes,
Josie

Hi there,

Timescales are always estimates so these can change on a day to day basis. If she's paid more loan that she's entitled to for her next payment (due to the form not being worked in time), it will mean her next instalment after that will be reduced to a lower amount and updated. So do advise her on this. Thanks, Jason
