LCC, I applied for journalism but didnt get in and now do media (LOL)
how come u never got accepted?
you emailed me about thatg and i couldnt be bothered to answer, my grades weren't impressive enough, I could have gotten on to the foundation journalism course but that was all dependent on the interview i had which i guess i didnt do well in. even if you get accepted, if you miss your offer you'll get put on to the foundation journalism course, this happened to two people i know
wtf were your grades
A B and a C for film and media respectively, and a B in English as level.
those were pretty high grades...
The lecturer who interviewed me said they were looking for two B's at least. Though I think relevant experience is another huge factor seeing as the majority of teachers at LCC are professionals first and lecturers second.
This is at uni of the arts right? I got told 2 C's
Yes this is at uni of the arts
Oh, well howcome I got told 2 C's for Journalism?

Hmm, odd. Im thinking of withdrawing my application now though because I have the offer I want and not too interested in UAL.
Atomic Tundra
why was it terrible?

Poorly organised, poorly attended events, seems like only people living in halls managed to make friends.
Depends where else you're applying to i guess, LCC is one of the best for journalism, have you been to look at it?
Where's LCC? Nahh, Ive just been offered a place on an NCTJ accredited course, I passed the entry exam and everything so im off there I guess
Do you actually know anything about Arts London? It's not one big uni, its six separate colleges and LCC is the one they teach journalism at...
Of course I know, but not all of us go around using abbreviations.
Anyway, whats the point, im withdrawing my application.
good job beta noire your depression make the poor girl withdraw her application

then my work here is done!

Honestly though, if you're going there expecting it to be the typical uni experience only cooler, hipper and artier, you're in for a shock. A lot of freshers here really did believe the hype when they came and think that getting in to colleges like chelsea, camberwell, st martins and lcf makes them some sort of cultural elite and that they can pick and choose in regards to who to give the time of day. Obviously I can't speak for other universities but I never expected further education to be so intensely cliquey.

Its an attitude I've found very hard to contend with, coupled with the fact that I don't do an especially arts related subject I sometimes get treated like a leper. During freshers week there wasn't an especially huge focus on actually meeting people and there are so few guys here or down to earth people in general that at times its hard to have a real conversation.

There's a lot of concern with who knows who, who's a model, who could be a model and who does what and which college. If you're a regular sort of guy or someone who has always found it hard to just slide in with the crowd then it's a bit tough at times, or at least it was in my experience.
