What should I do for my A-level Exam Resit/Test Centre?

I’m retaking my A-level history exam and want to carry forward my coursework from last year as I got a high score in it.

The exam centre that I want to sit my exam in says that you need to bring an exam certificate for proof so that the mark can be carried forward. However, how does this work?

How will they know exactly what I got in my coursework last year so as to be able to accurately carry forward the same amount of marks because A-level exam certificates do not have a breakdown of marks for different components including coursework?

The exam centre don't want to see the certificate for the coursework mark itself, but to confirm your Unique Candidate Identifier (UCI). If they provide that to the exam board when they register you, then the exam board can lookup your previous coursework mark and carry it forward.

See, for example, AQA's explanation of the process here.
