A level study tips

Hey guys👋, I am in year 12 currently doing 4 A levels (maths, further maths, chemistry and biology). I am hoping to study veterinary medicine in uni so it would be great if someone can give me some advice on what preparation I need to do before it’s too late to start 😭😭. Also, if there are any useful resources or study tips I would really appreciate them too!!! Thank you 🤓🤓

hi! i am a bio chem maths a level second year student

if i could reccomend anything to you is

that if you dont understand something, you need to find a way to understand it ASAP. letting work pile up is the first way of being overwhelmed and burning out

pmt is your bestfriend

maths genie is also your best friend

be resilient because it will get hard (like any a level of course). always remember your goal

Totally agree. I remember Hess law being my worst nightmare in Y12 because i wasn't in when that topic was taught and I found it so hard. But now it's one of the nicest topic in chem. So what im trying to say is that usually it seems so much worse and complicated than it really is when you don't understand sth. So ask your teachers and attend clinics and it should be fine.

try and get some experience if possible!! even if you just do something like volunteering at a local shelter, it can really support your uni applications and make you stand out amongst people of a similar academic background, and shows your engagement in the subject outside of the classroom.

(would also recommend reading around the subject so you can include it in your personal statement and reference wider readings in interviews etc)

good luck with that alevel combo though😭😭 past paper questions and freesciencelessons need to become your best friend asap!!

I have been doing some volunteering at a country park (it's not really relevant, but I get to do something about wildlife ig) and will do my work experience at a vet practice later on next year. You guys are so right. PMT and free science guy are my best friend lol!! Will try maths genie later 🤓🤓 when im done procrastinating...

Are there any tips to get an A in pure maths?

Know the formulas, study the basics, identify how they relate to each other in each topic. Doing that will help you identify patterns and essentially simplify your work. Eg. See how differentiation in general links to topic like numerical solutions of equations and how basic trig functions link to radians. I find that Y1 in Maths is basically learning the basics and Y2 is applying them

one thing that helped me is having a model answer whenever i learnt about a question. it would be a step by step guide on how to answer a specific type of question. that way, if i need to quickly go over something can see an example quickly

also, when asking your teachers for help, try and write on the actual question as to what you dont understand. it will be easier to understand that way. i hope i explained this well lol ^^
