Any information on how to do a film studies dissertation?

Hi, I am an English student and I've been given the opportunity to do my dissertation on The Hunger Games movies, using the film as a text (essentially just film studies). My dissertation supervisor has advised that critical analysis is the most important part. But I was just wondering, how do you practically go about notetaking/analysing films?

I would greatly appreciate if anyone had any templates to share, workflow, checklists, tips or advice for me! Thanks.

(P.S. I did Film Studies for GCSE and received a grade 8, so I have some type of foundational knowledge).

I think if you've not done any media/film analysis/criticism since GCSE, that's a pretty big gamble for your dissertation vs writing it on something you've had more experience analysing over the last 2 years.

Hey! In my 2nd year I did a module titled Literature and Pop Culture. Part of the module/assessment included analysing films as texts. I got a 68 which is great. But I was just looking for more info bcs you can’t really be over-prepared for a dissertation.
