ipad vs laptop

hiya everyone

i want a ipad for sixth form as i feel note taking is easier and it's more portable and convenient however my dad says a laptop has more storage and i don't need a touchscreen laptop anyways, but looking at the content, note taking and condensing notes seems to be a good options for now and plus i do computer science as well

but pls let me know on either which one is better and why (and what model you would recommend)

Tbh I feel like getting an iPad is better. I currently have a MacBook Pro and I noticed as I was taking it to sixth form I wasn’t really happy with the notes I was just randomly typing each lesson.

You can get iPads in higher storages and stuff and I feel like that would be a much more useful option, for note taking, mind maps and stuff like that. I don’t take computer science (so I’m not really sure if for the subject you need access to a laptop/computer).

Honestly I recommend you get either the 10th generation (I think that has a cheaper price) or the 11 inch iPad Air (2024). Personally, I don’t think you need the pro because that’s for like photographers I think. I’m getting the 13 inch iPad air.

Hope that helps!

hiya thanks so much for the reply! i feel using an ipad for notetaking in subjects such as biology and chemistry is going to be useful but for computer science there are lots of coding that i feel a laptop would be better idk tbh but ofc yd take comp sci so its fine! thanks so much!!

I'd recommend an iPad, definitely for chemistry and biology as it could be difficult to do diagrams on a computer. Also when using a laptop would mean you'll be typing all your notes which could be a downfall as when you come to do your exams you'll need to be able to hand write quickly and a laptop might mean your put of practice. I'm not sure about the computer science stuff, do your sixth form offer laptops that students can use for the day and then return?

I don't personally use an iPad as I found them to be too expensive and the added cost of the pen. I use a samsung s6 lite, the main reason for this is because it came with a pen already which isn't actually electronic itself so doesnt need to be charged and is significantly cheaper then an apple pen (the samsung pen is £30 on its own) I have no idea how it works really, it is like somehow linked to the tablet but it is really good and I've never had any issues with it. Altogether they tablet and pen were just over £400 last year from curry's. If you can put up with the "android" then definitely something to consider. Hope this helps
If you do get an ipad/tablet I'd recommend getting a Bluetooth keyboard as they can be really handy when you want to type something because the screen keyboard can be difficult to type quickly on.
