Hi, I’m a bi girl moving from University of Cumbrias Carlisle campus to their Lancaster campus next month. What is the gay scene like in Lancaster? Carlisle didn’t really have a scene.

Hi,

Here in Lancaster, we have an LGBTQ+ bar - Generations, although it seems like they don't cater specifically to the LGBTQ+ community, but are rather a regular LGBTQ+ safe club.
There are queer events organised at the local clubs very occasionally, although my knowledge of that is very limited as I am not the clubbing type haha 🙂
The Lancaster University LGBTQ+ society is very active and they are a lovely bunch - they organise regular and special social events - and even as a University of Cumbria student I'm sure you would be welcome to join many of them. It would be lovely to have you!
Overall it is an accepting and safe community (in my experience), and there are a lot of events organised at the universities and a few in town too, but it's not particularly bustling and out there, if that's what you are hoping for. Is there something you are looking for in terms of a "gay scene"? Perhaps I could be more helpful.

Hopefully, you'll meet lots of lovely people and have a good time at Lancaster! I would imagine that the University of Cumbria probably also has its own LGBTQ+ community (if not, worry not, for others exist).

My daughter graduated from Lancaster and she is Bi. She didnt join the clubs as she had her own little pub quiz lot which had trans, gay, bi at the pendle witch pub, but she also loved Generation which is for LGBTQIA+ and thats a club that has cages you can dance in. She also went with her friends to Manchester round the pubs there. Its definitely worth joining the groups though at the uni, so you can meet others and perhaps branch off in your own social group, or go every week. Lancaster also had a great pride day and it just keeps getting bigger and bigger each year.
