eligible for university of exeter contextual offer

So I'm planning on doing biomedical sciences, but I'm currently on an ABD. I found out that I'm eligible for a contextual offer, stating that ABB will be offered as BBB/BBC/BCC, as I am in area with quintile 2 POLAR 4, quintile 2 TUNDRA, and quintile 1 IMD. Additionally, I have possible extenuating circumstances regarding severe issues I had in year 12 which really impacted my grades noticably, and I was eventually diagnosed with ADHD at the end of year 12 and am now on 75mg Elvanse medication. Do you think it's worth applying?

Hi ADSADAFD,

Thanks for getting in touch, it's great to hear that you are thinking of applying to the University of Exeter. I'm sorry about the difficult challenges that you've had to overcome through year 12 so far, but have my fingers crossed that hopefully year 13 goes more smoothly for you.

Given your specific circumstances, I would advise you to get in touch with our admissions team directly, which you can do so via this online enquiry form here. They will be best placed to advise on what form a contextual offer might take and how that might relax the grade requirements needed in certain subjects. It's worth noting that it's a busy time period for our admissions office over Christmas before the January UCAS deadline, so please don't worry if you don't get a response to your enquiry straight away.

Generally though, you will have five applications you can make via UCAS, which will eventually be reduced to a firm and insurance choice. If you're keen to come to the University of Exeter then you could definitely apply as one of those five choices, even if the grade requirements might be towards the higher end, and then you could apply more strategically across your other choices to ensure that you have a suitable insurance option. Also, don't rule out seeing an improvement in your grades over year 13 too. Personally I found having a university offer was a big motivator for my final year of sixth form and helped motivate me to increase my grades down the final stretch. Hopefully with your new medication you might find the same too.

Best of luck for your upcoming studies, and please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.
