Are CGP books helpful?

I got predicted a 3 in both computer science and combined science and I really struggle with revision because I get overwhelmed easily so I thought about getting a CGP book. Is it true that they’re only good/useful for people who are already smart or no?
I think they're very useful.
Nothing to do with "people who are already smart" - they explain everything very clearly and concisely, and they are well laid out as well so they're not too dry or boring to read.

The only caveat is that they don't cover absolutely 100% of the material. Most yes, but not absolutely everything, so you couldn't, for example, just rely on a CGP book to teach you a subject from scratch. As revision guides though - yes they're spot on.

CGP revision guides / textbooks are better than all the other revision guides that exist. For maths, I do think they are quite basic though. However for the other subjects they are outstanding. So it will be good that you get one for computer science and combined science. As it's already been mentioned, CGP teaches you most of the content and now its up to you on how you apply it to different exam questions. So make sure you use it the most efficient way e.g. making notes, flashcards and maybe even consolidating knowledge.

The books are better than any textbook because it condenses it down and gives you the information you need. Their books got me through GCSE and should get me through a-levels because the textbooks we're given just waffle too much.

I got 3 9s in the three sciences - I didn't revise much and didn't do a single past paper for chemistry or biology bar mock exams, but used the CGP revision guide a lot. The notes were really concise and I think the format would help anyone, no matter their academic abilities.

As @PinkMobilePhone said, you can't trust them completely as they do miss out a few spec points here and there. But look into it as they really should help you improve your grades quickly.

For computer science I highly recommend smart revise and Craig & Dave videos. Just got a 9 in my mock using these.
