Anyone else miss out words when reading exam questions?

I've noticed over the last few months that whenever I'm doing exam questions I don't actually fully read the question and miss out important Imformation. It's pretty annoying because I keep losing marks over it. (I have a suspicion that as there has been a drop off in attention span in the last year or so due to short form conent like tiktok. It could be linked to that?)

Any suggestions would be much appreciated

A lot of people say this but simply staying calm and slowing down should usually help. Sometimes students rush due to paranoia about time pressure, and don't read things properly, and lose heaps of marks in the process. A common example is when students read a GCSE English passage in 2 minutes and think they're cleverly saving time for writing.

I sort of used to have this problem but actively thinking about reading the question in full rather than whizzing through papers in a frenzy helps me.

Out of curiosity, when you're doing a set of questions, do you skip lots of them and then come back to them, or not?

No, I generally complete 95% of questions on a test and only come back to like 2 if I realise I'm not getting anywhere as It allows me to keep thinking about it.

Ah ok - I sort of used to do that but now I realise that it's a careless way to lose marks. I think my main suggestion is to consciously slow down, but I'm sure others will post some soon.
