Who should I do teacher training with, and where?

I want to go into secondary school teaching mathematics, but not sure on where to do it. What's people's experiences with PGCE's, TeachFirst, GetIntoTeaching etc.? As well, which universities or cities do people have experience with? I'm currently in Cardiff but would like to do teaching somewhere in the UK - I'm from Southampton so want to be a little bit away from Home, but family in Bristol so makes sense to be a couple hours out from there, but I'm really not sure and happy to be pushed outside my comfort zone. Any information would be helpful

Hi, Maybe you could go check the university website page to see if the modules from the universities which are interested to you the most. I’m personally is studying an education degree. It is really fun to learn but we don’t learn much about teaching. I believe PGCE is something that is more useful for you. 🤗https://www.southampton.ac.uk/courses/secondary-mathematics-pgce

Hi @holly.rose.04

There is a lot to think about when considering where you might train to teach and a lot of courses to choose from. Doing your research is really important.

If you want to access free, 1:1, bespoke support from your own adviser to help with this research, then sign up for our service here.

We are a team of experienced teachers and we support a wide-range of people in considering whether teaching is the right career for them and, if it is, we support candidates throughout the application process.

We are impartial and make sure we give individuals everything they need to make their own informed decision. It would be our pleasure to help in any way we can.
