It doesn’t contain starch. It contains simple sugars like glucose syrup plus sweeteners. The glucose is a source of energy. B vitamins are also included which are involved in energy metabolism supporting a claim of reducing tiredness. The drink is also formulated to be isotonic with body fluids supporting a claim that it aids hydration. Now that the former extreme levels of sugar have been reduced there is some merit in these claims, when consumed in moderation
