Hi @A127a👋

You're already studying a relevant subject for fashion design. So, you're positioning yourself for the course. Fashion design degrees have people with mixed abilities. So, during the first year, you'll most likely be taught the skills to ensure everyone is at the same level. You can clarify this with the universities you're interested in by attending an open day. You can also speak to the tutors who can give you tips on developing your skill set in preparation for your chosen course.

A foundation diploma specialising in textiles and fashion would probably be a better option and give you more choice on where to study a degree

Hi @A127a

I'm just going to echo what @PQ said above, plus say...if you have any doubts, a Foundation Diploma really does help. I did one myself. The link again for you https://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=5017684

Best of luck and I hope that link helps clarify the terminology and other details.

Hi there @A127a , I'm a Kingston BA Fashion student 🤗 Many of my peers have done a Foundation diploma and have really benefitted from the experience! An Art & Design Foundation allows you to explore different mediums and disciplines within design (eg. fashion, interior, graphics...etc). It is also a great time to figure where your strengths lie, what you enjoy best and gives you time to develop your portfolio before university! 😃 I would suggest going for a couple of open days to speak to course tutors and current students to see what works best for you 🙂 Hope this helps!
