Does MSc Motorsport Engineering at Oxford Brookes include CFD

I am planning on doing a masters in Motorsport Engineering next year the universities I have looked at are Oxford Brookes and Cranfield and I have seen that Cranfield do CFD as a standalone module and I wanted to ask if anyone knows whether CFD is taught as part of the Motorsport Engineering course at Oxford Brookes, I see it is not its own module but I wanted to check if it is taught as part of aerodynamics module or another one as it does not say.

Hi DawoodShahzad,
We're delighted you're considering Oxford Brookes for your MSc in Motorsport Engineering! For further information- while our course doesn't have any standalone modules for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), these are largely taught as part of the MSc in Motorsport Engineering course through the Advanced Vehicle Aerodynamics module, using the Siemens STAR-CCM+ software. Additionally, CFD can be used/studied further as part of the MSc Dissertation module, if the students choose to work on a project requiring CFD work. If you do wish to focus on CFD, you may also be interseted in this research group at the university.

We hope that helps!

Hi @DawoodShahzad ,

Cranfield University has outstanding expertise in CFD, which is why we even run an entire MSc in Computational Fluid Dynamics (Computational Fluid Dynamics MSc). The staff are active researchers as well as tutors, with clients that include AWE, NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC), Jaguar Land Rover, BAE Systems, MBDA, MoD and SEA.

Cranfield is a specialist postgraduate university, renowned for its advanced motorsport engineering. We collaborate closely with leading Formula 1, MotoGP, and Formula E teams, along with esteemed organisations like the British Racing Drivers' Club (BRDC) and the Motorsport Industry Association (MIA). Our unique offerings include state-of-the-art R&D facilities such as a g-cueing driver cockpit simulation suite, high-speed tyre testing rigs, and advanced vehicle dynos, complemented by powerful HPC clusters running sophisticated dSPACE and AVL software.
