UCL Media BA (Undergraduate) 2025 Application

Hi all! I'm in the process of applying for the UCL Media undergraduate course for 2025. My predicted grade is a Distinction, which is awarded by UAL. However, I'm feeling a bit uncertain about how to create a portfolio, as well as my personal statement. I'm worried that if my personal statement isn't as strong as my portfolio, it might be an issue. Do you have any tips or advice for personal statement and portfolio or anything about the course?

hi I'm also applying! I honestly think the portfolio is more important as from the looks of applicants last year most got rejected from an insufficient portfolio. I have a feeling the same is going to happen to me lol I have a video essay and music video to submit but not sure what else to submit🥲what are you submitting?

Hi, does anyone know how high of the standard the portfolio should be? I'm starting to do it a bit late so I'm worried if my portfolio is not strong enough.

should we help each other with this?
I just found guidelines from the ucl website:

What should I include?
Up to 6 items representing a variety of your work and approaches. These will need to be uploaded as a PDF file or provided as an online web site link. Media files can be uploaded on Vimeo, YouTube, Soundcloud, Google drive and provided as a link on your PDF document or embedded in your web site. Portfolio uploads should not be larger than 450MB.
Tips for portfolio

1.

Include pieces that show a wide range of skills and ability to work with different materials and techniques.

2.

Include some work in progress to show us how you research and develop your ideas.

3.

Explain your work, include labels to guide us through your creative processes and vision.

4.

Show your unique approach, your personality, individuality and passion are your most powerful tools.

5.

Present your work in a consistent format that is readable and watchable, create your story through images and videos.

The thing is, I don't know how much of my work is enough. And I don't actually have a lot of work to showcase

but do the 6 items mean 6 works or 6 pages with possibly multiple works per page?

Hi everyone,
I submitted my application a while ago, but when I log in to Portico, it still says “Application Received.” It hasn’t changed for some time now. Should I be worried about this? Has anyone experienced the same thing? I’d really appreciate any advice or information
