How many GCSEs is the usual?

hi i’m a home studying student and i recently just took a couple of my gcses.

i took 6 igcses (bio chem phy el maths and further pure maths) and im going to take 1 gcse next year too (japanese lang)

does anyone know if having that little gcses (7 total) would hold me back in terms of uni and sixthform applications? i’m a little worried because i want to do a med course in the future which i know is competitive and i would like to go to a decent sixthform.
or is it more like quality over quantity?
You just need to meet the minimum for entry requirements at your chosen college / sixth form / sixth form college (assuming you want to go to one).

The usual is 5 I/GCSEs at grades 4 or above, so with 7 you should be OK, but double check on the website of your chosen college.

Also check grade requirements at universities you might be interested in attending. High grades in the sciences are usually a necessity.

With what you're taking subject-wise, and with you doing 7 subjects, I'd be surprised if there's a problem. Just get high grades in the science subjects in particular.
