A level English NEA- word counts

For part of my English A level my exam board requires us to do an essay based on 2 books -- with a word count of max 3850 words. Trouble is I've been struggling to get it even below 4500 while still being coherent and good quality. Does anyone have advice on how they might have done this in the past or general advice on shortening English lit essays? Thanks!

For part of my English A level my exam board requires us to do an essay based on 2 books -pre 2000s and post 2000s- with a beginning statement and a word count of max 3850 words. Trouble is I've been struggling to get it even below 4500 while still being coherent and good quality.
The pre 2000s book is 1984, though I'm not sure that much knowledge is needed since I only want to shorten the essay, would anyone be willing to have me send it privately and read through for ways to shorten? Or advise me on ways to shorten essays in general- any help would be greatly appreciated!

Do not send it to anyone on here - you risk someone sharing it as their own work.

Can't your teacher help?

Yikes forgot about that- going to nullify this post asap. I have asked but since they’re the ones grading it the help they can give is limited and I haven’t been able to receive much from them or peers. Might just ask for general advice on how to shorten essays or NEA’s, thank-you for the warning!
