Top Art Universities ?

What are the best art/creative university options in your opinion?
There aren’t many art universities in the UK
AUB (Bournemouth)
AUP (Plymouth)
LAU (Leeds)
UAL (London - lots of colleges)
NUA (Norwich)

There are other larger/multi subject universities that have art schools or departments within them but these vary quite a lot. Some are very old fashioned and only offer Fine Art degrees while others will be like the art universities and more connected to creative industries and careers and offer a broad range of creative courses.

What are you hoping to study?

wow that's quite a broad range!

It might be worth having an explore on https://www.wonderwhat.co.uk/ to try to work through the sort of things that appeal to you and the options available for those different courses and careers

Hi @ameliiaaaaa

I'm at AUP and I love it here.

However, we don't do Theatrical Design. We DO have Graphics and Fine Art courses. We are a specialised Arts University.

Your interests, like @PQ said do seem quite broad, but I do recommend talking to the Unis who specialise in arts and have the courses that might interest you. This could be open days in person, virtual open days, or a quick 1:1 chat with the Uni. You could also follow their Insta course accounts to see what the students are creating. This will give you a really good feel for what Uni might be right for you.

I hope that helps

Hi @ameliiaaa

This may be biased but I would say Kingston School of Art is great. It is a part of Kingston University which also offers other subjects and three other campuses as Kingston School of Art has it's own campus called Knights Park.

Knights Park is based just a 10 minute walk from the centre of Kingston where you can get to the centre of London in 30 minutes. There is a river running by the campus which makes a lovely outdoor space to spend with friends in-between working on projects and lectures. There has also been a new extension built where all the workshops are located. You can use any workshop no matter what course you are studying, which means you really get to experiment with lots of different mediums. There is also a student bar on the campus that holds lots of fun events. I find with all the art students based on one camps and the social spaces it creates a really collaborative atmosphere.

It is the best of both worlds when it comes to location as Kingston is not as busy and slightly cheaper than the centre of London, yet you can getting to the centre pretty quickly where there are lost of great galleries, exhibitions and events to inspire your work.

We have a great fine art and graphics course, I would be happy to share more information with you if you are interested. And if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask
