Enquiry on the choice for third A level subject for admission in Medicine

My daughter in year 12 at present and has taken Chemist RT and Biology as her subjects in A level. She wants to take PE which is her one of the favourites subject as third subject. Will this be accepted by universities for admission in Medicine?

i'd imagine pe would be good since it's another science subject that will include both chemistry and biology in it! it's also relevant to the kinds of modules that might be taught on a medicine course at university as a lot of the theory is likely to be based on health (i'd imagine, but you'd have to check specifics).

hull york medicine school, for example, requests that applicants have "3 x A levels (including Biology and Chemistry) with a minimum prediction of AAB".

similarly, the uni of manchester asks for "Biology/Human Biology *or* Chemistry; *and* one of the following subjects from Chemistry; Biology/Human Biology; Physics; Psychology; Mathematics or Further Mathematics".

this shows that the third subject can be anything really! sticking with a stem subject such as pe will strengthen her application though, especially if it's something your daughter is able to enjoy and do well in!

most would be fine with it. the only exception i can think of is cambridge, where some colleges prefer and even require maths. if your daughter is aspiring towards cambridge then check individual college’s websites and keep that in mind.
oxford and literally every other med uni should be fine though!
if in doubt email admissions teams of unis to make sure its ok, but unless they’ve explicitly said no PE on their entry requirements it’s fine

Southampton do not allow Biology and PE combination. "AAA to include A level Biology and one additional science. Subjects where there may be considerable overlap of material will not be accepted in combination (examples of combinations include, but are not exclusive to, Zoology/Biology; Biology/Sports Studies/Physical Education). If you believe there is a potential overlap, please contact us before applying."
Probably best to check each uni's entry requirements.
