What to do if you need academic, wellbeing or personal support over the Winter Break

It's almost time for the Winter Break! ❄️🎉

While our UBU Advice Centre and Counselling and Mental Health Service are closed over the break, you can still use the below resources for any academic, wellbeing or personal support.

What to do if something happens that affects your studies?

Consideration of personal circumstances:
During your studies, you might experience difficult circumstances which impact your ability to attend learning sessions, complete assessments or academically perform at your expected level. It's important you tell someone at the University as soon as you can about any such issues so you can get the advice and support you need.

In the first instance, let your Module Tutor, Personal Academic Tutor or Supervisor know. They will then determine how best to support you. This may include support sessions to help with your assignment, or helping you to access other support services including the Student Success Team or Counselling Service.

Even with appropriate support, you may sometimes be unable to complete assignments as required due to personal circumstances beyond your control. In these instances you can request an Extension or Extenuating Circumstances.

Fit to sit/submit:
Each time you attend an examination or submit a piece of coursework, you declare yourself fit and well enough to participate in the assessment process. This means that when you sit your exam or submit your coursework it's unlikely that the University will accept a later Extenuating Circumstances application.
