The Student Room Group

which uni for my insurance

i’m applying to study an integrated masters in chemistry and i’ve gotten offers from warwick ucl and bath. the bath offer is ABC and the other two are AAA. my predicted is A*A*A*, realistically i think probs A*A*A and my gcses were 999999998. is it too risky going for the AAAs as an insurance?

even then, i really can’t tell whether bath warwick or ucl is better. kinda put off ucl because i’ve heard it’s really tough to make friend, the accommodation is very expensive and the campus is all over (relative to imperial for example). but ucl seems like it’s got a better reputation? warwick and bath i’ve got a placement year which ik is good, but if i had to pick between them i genuinely can’t tell which is better they’re pretty similar in rankings and student satisfaction.

some advice on which i should pick as my insurance would be really helpful  my first choice would be imperial (if i get the offer) for reference.

Are you assuming that an AAA course is intrinsically 'better' than Bath just because it asks for higher grades?

no like if i got imperial i would firm that, that’s A*AA probably, is AAA offer too close to that? and then also deciding betwen ucl imperial and bath as insurance.

Just remember that AAA Unis are not likely to be forgiving if you miss those grades on Results Day.
This could mean having no Uni place at all in August.

You might feel very confident about achieving A*/A grades now, but mid-exams is not the moment to realise that that is no longer realistic and that you should have made a safer Insurance choice. An Insurance offer of ABC for a top Uni like Bath is a lifeline. Go to the Offer Holders visit day, look around, ask questions and think carefully. And remember that you do not have to make this decision until JUNE at the earliest.
